Walk with Amal

'The Walk is an international arts festival meets endurance event. Little Amal, a 3.5 metre-tall puppet, will walk across the European continent to shine a light on the stories of millions of young refugees. She will travel through 8 countries, welcomed by hundreds of cultural events in cities, towns and villages all along her route. The length and sheer size of the challenge is capturing imaginations even before her first step. She will walk for all the children – many unaccompanied and separated from their families – who are forced to undertake extraordinary journeys under life-threatening conditions. Little Amal will walk so that we don’t forget them.                                                                                                                 From: https://www.walkwithamal.org/

On Wednesday 3rd November 2021 Little Amal arrived in Manchester and was greeted by our Year 6 pupils performing songs that they had worked on with musicians and performers from Music Action International as part of Manchester International Festival. The experience was thought-provoking, heartwarming and we are so privileged to have been invited to take part in this event.

"I think I can speak for both Miss Allen and Miss Duckworth when I say that the children were phenomenal tonight! Not only did they do themselves proud but they were a credit to Webster Primary and sang beautifully.  Everything came together on the night and being included in such a fabulous event is certainly something we will remember and I’m sure the children will too!"                                                          Mrs Stroker, Teacher, 6S
