Photography

We have been running an after school photography club for the last 4 years. We have our own set of vintage Olympus OM10 cameras and work with photographer and book making artist Joe Ford to make masterpieces.

Cyanotype Prints

Joe also works with classes during topic weeks on cyanotype prints and book making projects.

Reception character creation with Joe Ford

We have been learning about characters in stories as part of our Let's Pretend IPC theme. When amazing artist Joe Ford visited our class we had the opportunity to create our own characters and have them made into cyanotype prints!

This is how we did it:

Step 1- Draw a character of our own invention- thinking about what we add to it and what those things are for, e.g. '3 arms so that it can get cupcakes'!

Step 2- Drawing the character out in pen- drawing in pen is tricky- you have to be very careful! These brilliant pen pictures are then photocopied onto acetate.

Step 3- Paint some 'magic' liquid onto paper, put the photocopied picture on top and put it under UV light (or in the sun)....watch the magic happen! Look at our amazing finished character prints!
